Awkwafina

Awkwafina was an American actor and musician who made her name with clever raps that tackled the issues of sexuality and race with a an edgy, comical perspective. She then expanded into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first music experience. She was a trumpet player. After classical and Jazz training She delved into hip-hop when she was an teen. In college, she studied journalism and women's studies. Then, she even had some time learning Mandarin in Beijing. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. This album also featured viral hits such as the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown New York Bitche$. This track was directly linked into another venture Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. Her resume contained both an musicians and an author. Now she was looking to expand her career into acting. Alongside early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies like Neighbors 2. Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a number of notable roles that were a breakthrough, like Dude Ocean's 8, or Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she released In Fina We Trust.
